Free GSTIN validator

A GSTIN is a 15-character GST registration number: a 2-digit state code, the business's 10-character PAN, an entity number, the letter Z and a check character. This tool verifies the structure and the check character instantly in your browser, and shows the state and PAN type. It does not confirm registration; use the GST portal for that.

GSTIN validator: FAQ

What is the format of a GSTIN?

A GSTIN has 15 characters: 2-digit state code, the 10-character PAN of the business, 1 character for the entity number within the state, the letter Z, and a check character computed from the first 14 characters.

Does a valid format mean the GSTIN is registered?

No. This tool checks the structure and checksum only. To confirm registration and the legal name, search the GSTIN on the official GST portal (gst.gov.in) under Search Taxpayer.

What does the state code mean?

The first two digits identify the state or union territory of registration, for example 27 for Maharashtra, 07 for Delhi, 29 for Karnataka and 33 for Tamil Nadu. The same business has a different GSTIN in each state it is registered in.

Is my GSTIN stored when I check it?

No. Validation runs entirely in your browser; nothing is sent to our servers.
