How to switch from Tally to Billing Software by Betterwork in 10 minutes
You do not have to leave Tally to get fast, mobile GST billing. Export your stock items, party ledgers and outstanding balances from TallyPrime to Excel, import them into Billing Software by Betterwork on a 30-minute onboarding call, and start invoicing from any phone the same day. Your CA keeps posting the books in Tally from our sales export.

What you need from Tally
- Stock items with HSN, unit and rate
- Sundry debtors (customers) with GSTIN and contact details
- Outstanding receivables as opening balances
- Last invoice number, so numbering continues
Step by step
- 1
Export masters from TallyPrime
In TallyPrime, export Stock Items and Ledgers (Sundry Debtors) to Excel from the respective master lists, and export the Outstanding Receivables report. Keep the default column layout; we map the columns for you.
- 2
Send us the files
Upload them in your onboarding form or WhatsApp them to our team. We check columns, units and GST rates and flag anything odd (duplicate parties, missing HSN codes) before import.
- 3
Set your invoice template
On the 30-minute onboarding call we add your logo, colours, columns, bank details, terms and language, and set your invoice numbering to continue from your last invoice number.
- 4
Import and verify
We import items, customers and opening balances, then you check five random customers and ten items against your old system. Fix anything on the spot.
- 5
Bill in parallel for one day
Create your first real invoices in Betterwork while your old system stays open. Compare totals and tax. After one clean day, switch fully.
- 6
Keep the old software read-only
Do not delete it. Keep it for historical records and for your CA until the financial year closes; Betterwork holds everything from the switch date onward.
- 7
Round-trip to Tally for your CA
Each month, export the sales register, receipts and credit notes from Betterwork; your CA imports them into Tally or posts them as journal entries. GST filing continues exactly as before.
